Title: Today is the day...
Post by: mdsalemi on November 02, 2012, 11:17:24
Waiting any longer seems fraught with weather uncertainty.  A weather window has opened, so today, the Pagoda gets its final drive of the season.  Fuel up, add some Techron, drive 150 miles north.  Stop for a good car wash in Remus, Michigan, fill up again and add Sta-Bil.  Another five miles, dry off, wipe down, add air to the tires, cover with soft flannel, and let the hibernation begin!

Hi Michael,

I have spotted that 'techron' cleans your engine. Is it highly recommended?

I can get some on EBAY- I'm wondering if it is the same thing as 'Redex' though?

Enjoy the drive  :)

Drew,

Many years ago, with another Bracq legend (my long gone but beloved '79 BMW 320i) BMW recommended regular usage of Techron as a fuel-system "cleaner" for the fuel injection system on this car.  It did wonders for some sluggish behavior in the waning days of leaded fuel (the last of the BMWs to use leaded gas) and I've always used it annually on every fuel injected car I've owned.  Of course NOW they are all fuel injected...

Can't say precisely if it helps but have not had any fuel issues (aside from pump power and rich/lean adjustments) so it's OK.  Not expensive either.

And now I hear that it's supposed to be in the 60's this weekend.
If the rain holds off that will be my last run of the year....

The heater worked great in the 250 yesterday, had to turn it down to 1/4 strength.

I'm hoping for another mild winter. I didn't have to put my car up completely last year. I was able to get it out several times during the winter. Having said that, Michael, what make of car cover do you have?

The car cover is a no-name, custom fit flannel cover used for indoor applications only.  Bought it years ago from some online retailer.  Couldn't tell you who.
