Title: Proper Height of Front End - 1965 230 SL
Post by: rjmarco on October 21, 2012, 04:30:15
I'm continuing to work on my beloved project car.

I've noticed that my front end looks a bit lower than what I see in 230 SL photos from the clearance of the top of the tire to the fender.  Not really that bad, but noticeable to me.  I asked my MBZ dealer and they also think the car is slightly lower on the driver's side compared to the passenger's side.  What would be the cause of this?  Coil springs just too old?  The car has about 52 k miles.

Thanks!

I would house the flooding checklist items to resolve the problem:

1. check if the assessment at MBZ was performed with you sitting in the car. If so, repeat the assessment with the car empty
2. Otherwise, have the suspension parts checked to see if they are matching the original part numbers
3. In all other cases, follow the instructions received from the mechanician.  ;D

good luck

There are many topics on the correct ride height. Search for that term on the forum..
