Very excited about my new car - working out some kinks and having it taken care of by my own mechanic at the moment. New to this site and would appreciate any advice.
thanks Janet

Hi Janet.
One thing I have learned about this forum is that help is always abundant. What makes this forum better is the fact that all of us love the Pagoda and as such we all have something to say. If you have any problems, just post them on here and you will likely have 3 or 4 solutions in a day.
Nice Car by the way!
Mark.

Congrats on the new ride! Please check out the 50yr anniversary next year in Williamsburg Va.

Hi Janet,

Hi Janet,
it looks as if you were very happy about the car, so my advice will be to keep it this way. And as already said, the Technical Manual will give you most answers to any questions you may have. and for those you still cannot find answers for in the Tech Man, you have nearly 4 thousand members to help out. OK some are more capable than others :)
nevertheless, your car doesn't seem to have a lot to fix…. I know very well from my own experience with my Pagoda that appearances may unfortunately be deceiving….
good luck and enjoy the "Jam Jar"
;)

Beatiful car! Love the color.
-
Hi Janet,
Could you please explain the reason for the name "Jam Jar"?
Thanks from down under.

Could it be Cockney rhyming slang - Jam jar - car ;)
-
I wanted to take a butcher's hook at a new mickey just around the jack from me but my plates were hurting so I took the jam jar.
-
I wanted to look at a new house just round the corner from me, but my feet were hurting so i took the car, ::)
-
There we go.... Should we run a contest about the meaning of jam jar, before Janet steps in and explains it? In my case I think that when Janet bought the car, it had the aspect of traditional metal jar with jam, probably English strawberry.
Alternatively, the car is the cjar, and Janet is the strawberry (not in the form of jam ;D ;D ;D I hope).
-
The answer has already been posted. Even though our dictionaries are the same, there is almost no crossover in slang expressions between Brits and Americans. Most British slang is jank to me.
Nice jam jar just the same!

I think I got it, Janet's Jam Jar, aka JJJ :)
-
As a displaced "Essex Girl" - now having been more than half my life in the USA "jam jar" is certainly rhyming slang .........
Since my original post I have had a complete mechanical upgrade and taken the car on a couple nice long road trips - its brilliant!!! -
-
That explains all Janet, as they probably say, 'you can take the girl out of Essex but you can't take Essex out of the girl!'
Enjoy your jam jar

Janet,
a short write up about your first ride would not be a bad idea…. ;)

This is sl113.org, not "playboy"!

Huh ?
Did I miss a Bunny ????

needless to say that I am totally and deeply devastated with the turn this thread is taking :o :o :o

Congratulations! Looks like a nice example.'68. No headrests. Check the tires to see if they need replaced. They look a bit tired.

My first ride was awesome,
I took the car to work (NJ to NYC) about a 50 mile drive to give it a run. After parking at my garage on 43rd street I went to meet a friend for lunch on 18th street.
The 25 block ride down Fifth Avenue was amazing!!, I was offered lunch, marriage and two trade ins. I saw at least 4 or 5 people take photos. It was such a great feeling that anytime I'm feeling blue I will take my "jam jar" for a ride back down 5th avenue............
-
Does 5th Avenue really beat the Friday Night "cruize" down the Southend sea front ?
& breakfast at Westcliffe ?
Great that you are using and enjoying your pagoda
Have fun

Yes there is a "slight" difference. I hear that Southend / Westcliffe is not what it used to be ...........
