Title: Petrol smell in boot/trunk
Post by: Alf on August 06, 2012, 06:54:49
The last few times I opened the boot/trunk I have caught a smell of petrol. not overpowering but defintely there and I never noticed it before. Any ideas? The fuel tank is nearly empty if that makes any difference.

Try changing the rubber pipes that connect to the overflow tank on the right side
of the boot. Even if they look good. Worked for me.

It can be the vlotter in the middle of the bottom of your floor, mine was the rubber gone so there came fuel out.

Also remove the cover inside the trunk where the gas filler line passes.  There are rubber hose connections that need to be checked (or just replace the rubber hoses)..
