Ok. My name is Gus, I am from Spain but I live in NC. My dream came true after fifteen years and I got today my 250SL. it is in good shape, but it needs a lot of love that of course I will give to it.
I am glad to find a great community where we can share the same passions.
I will ask a lot of questions and rely on you all.
First question. The owner lost the key. What should I do?
Regards

Welcome Gus.
The key code is on the Data Card for the car. If you have the Data card, a keymaker should be able to make the keys for you.
If you do not have the Data Card, call the Mercedes Classic Center at 1800 FOR-MERCEDES. They can send a copy of the Data Card to you.

Hello Gus,
Yes try Mercedes on the key first. Removal of the ignition is very difficult without the key. You would probably have to drill out the lock assembly to release the lock opin which holds the ignition/steering lock assembly in place. Keep us up to date.

Gus,
The Data Card came with the original paperwork from the factory. It is about 3" x 8" in size and the originals are made from sturdy card stock paper. The copy that the Classic Center can send you (they will want written proof of ownership) will be a photo copy from their old records kept on micro fisch(?). It is not very high quality, but it has a lot of information.
Do a Search (upper right hand corner of screen) on "Data Card".
Best of luck with your new 250SL!
