Title: Die Kugelpfanne is back
Post by: ctaylor738 on July 08, 2012, 23:02:02
Automatic transmission cars have the neutral safety switch on the firewall, connected to to the transmission with a cable.  There is a ball socket (Kugelpfanne) on the firewall end of the cable.  According to Gernold, the correct Kugelpfanne was not available for many years, and a plastic substitute was used.

Well, I am happy to report that Mercedes has brought the correct Kugelpfanne back.  It even has the two little holes on the sides to take the special tool used to secure it while tightening the nut on the on the bottom.

If you have a Kugelpfanne, take care of it.  A replacement lists for $104.98. PN is 127 300 00 86.

Chuck,
thanks for the info, it is always nice to cross out another NLA.
But this signals another recent trend by Daimler in the USA, to charge at least twice for parts here.
This particular item costs 48 Euro in Germany or about $60.  Another money maker for Daimler is the windshield seal
A113 671 0220 that sells there for 90 Euro, or about $111, and lists here for +$300 !!  :o

We can make a fortune arbitraging Kugelpfannen.

Seriously, this might be an issue for the Group to take up with MB USA.  Maybe partner with MBCA?
