Title: 280 SL vents
Post by: n/a on June 19, 2004, 14:22:56
Will someone please walk me thru the process for the removal and replacement of the 4 controls for the vent system on a 1969 280SL.
I have the replacement parts but want to know the best way to do the work. Should I do any other maintenance work when I have the old parts out?
Any help will be appreciated.

This is also a featured topic in the "Total Restore" video. It's all about the restoration of a 113.  Some parts of the video are good, some are a bit lame, but still of some value to the novice.

A question on a related matter:  If one just needs to change the light bulbs, does one have to go through tearing apart the whole dash or is there a way to just access the bulb with mostly everything in situ?

From memory: I recall being able to get to some parts of the levers (including at least the top bulbs) after only removing the dash loudspeaker. Actually one of my levers had broken off at the center and I was able to glue it back together through that speaker hole.
