Does anyone know what the original color of the leather was for the luggage straps that fit in the trunk/boot? Were it provided with each car when purchased or was it an accessory?
Thanks
John

Colour was medium to dark brown. Metal pieces each end and strap mechanism were shiny metal, probably zink plated. The Strap was an accessory and had its own SA, No 297 "Strap and mounting material in tail" as the List of Codes translates it :)

I'm a little late posting, but here are a couple images of mine....

Thanks for posting the images.
I ordered a replica strap from Ollie Dare at Dare Classics (www.dareclassics.com). I received it today and, while I have not been able to check the fit, the end product looks really nice and appears to be a very good imitation of the original. I recommend him.

Here's my reproduction luggage strap over the Hepco luggage. The trunk strap is brown, but the luggage is black. Does anyone know if any of the orginal luggage straps were made black?

Craig, where is your reproduction strap from? This looks useful, even if you don't have the luggage.

The strap i have was made by someone in the German Pagoda Club. Douglas Kim received it from Achim. Another source Doug mentioned was Ollie Dare at Dare Classics in Elk Grove, CA: ollie@dareclassics.com
Interesting additional note from Doug Kim... the luggage straps came in both black and brown. He's seen both brown and black straps in orginal cars. (I'm tempted to look into having mine dyed black, or finding a black one...)
