Title: Parts Book
Post by: hrwilson on May 22, 2012, 06:24:20
For interest there was a Parts Book for sale on Ebay, did not meet reserve of £250 so I guess the seller flashharry92 would be open to offers.

Mercedes Benz SL230/250/280 Parts Book 1963-1971 w113

I'm happy one of you buys it and I can get the info on this site!

I wasn't aware that MB had one parts book for all three cars. I have the two books for the 230SL and another book for the 250/280SL but I don't think there is a book for all three cars.

Dan  is correct again - as usual. ;) :D

10126 ...
that's the last 230 SL list, edition C, as of January 1967.

Worth 100 - 150 €uros, perhaps a bit more. :o

Good luck!

Hi,
If you look on the last picture you can see that somebody has put together both 10126 and 10202. Both of them are edition C. This makes that the seller is correct, it covers 230, 250 and 280.
You are also correct, they diden't come together from MB.
Then suddenly £250 isen't that bad. But I still think it's too much!
Good luck bidding!

The glovebox book without part numbers is nice but in my opinion fairly useless.  The big blue one that actually has all the part numbers is very useful and very rare.  For one thing, EPC is wrong sometimes and the parts book is right.  And if you want to know original part numbers rather than all of the "replaced by" part numbers (that are sometimes wrong) there isn't a good substitute for the expensive dealer parts book.  I'm not so sure that the one on ebay is priced that poorly.  Seems like I've seen the same book on ebay usa offered for $700 or something like that.  (I don't think that is a good price).  I think I paid between $100 and $200 for the two that I own (I got lucky and got a spare and it's not for sale)

Lots of people sell the small parts book on ebay but neglect to mention that it has no parts numbers.  Since dimensionally it looks quite similar, it's easy to confuse.  Be careful what you are buying.

In addition to having the original numbers, the parts book also has the original drawings. Many of the drawings on the EPC have been changed and parts deleted that have been NLA for a long time.
