Title: 230SL Restoration complete.
Post by: Wolfmann on May 21, 2012, 09:08:13
Two years work, too much money and one girlfriend later, Marilyn is finished. A few bugs to iron out and a new camshaft to source (mine is only just OK apparently despite a hideously expensive engine rebuild and no advisory).

The interior is original and in very good condition although I did replace the carpets and hood (Mr O'Keefe) and also the wood,. The car has had a nut and bolt rebuild and all external steel panels are replacements, Engine, gearbox, radiator, heater matrix etc all rebuilt too. New brajkes and lines, suspension, bushings. Too much to list really !!
A relief although a little bit of an anti climax now I have nothing to project manage !

Wow, your mood must have been swinging like Benny Goodman through that process, but the final result looks beyond great :-)

Right Ulf, when he looks at Marilyn now, you can hear him "Sing Sing Sing".

Cheers, Hank
