Hi Guys, I have sent my bumpers off for re-chroming but the center piece is in bad shape. Does anyone know where I can buy a new one? Thanks, ncsurfer

Classic Center, Irvine CA. Somewhere around $130. as I recall.

Can you also purchase the entire front bumper from the Classic Center?

I paid $100 for this about 10 years ago, so if it is only $130 now it hasn't risen like the Stars... ;)

Has anyone ever bought new bumpers? If so, were you satisfied?

Wouldn't do that.
New factory chrome bumpers are still available but their price is around four digits, each half! :'(
Recommend to get aftermarket ones or used originals and get them rechromed yourself (if necessary). 8)

Original bumpers have become quite valuable, and very expensive to replace (with original MB). I actually took my original bumpers off my 280SL and replaced them with a beautiful set of repros. I have the perfect originals stored away so nothing happens to them. I wish I could remember who I bought the repros from, it was over ten years ago, but the fit and finish was excellent.

Thanks for your reply. I have sent my bumpers out for re-chroming but have found a nice looking set, front & back with the center piece for $700.00 shipped. The re-chrome is $1,200., but I guess it is worth it. I am still looking for a better center piece.

You can indeed buy the chrome parts direct from Mercedes and they are indeed expensive. I have bought a few recently and the only complaint I've had was that the only centre peice (joint cover) that I bought had the incorrect profile and was returned to the dealer. They were unable to offer me one with the correct profile.
