Well after many many hours of investigation, I have found out the cause of the excessive sideways play in my steering. The internal clamp that holds the steering shaft in place is badly worn (my workshop checked this with the steering tube out and using a light inserted inside the tube).
I am stumped as to whether one can even attempt to repair this internal area ? Other than finding a good second-hand replacement, have I got any other options ?
Any advice is much appreciated
