Title: Cold start fine, Hot running fine - bit in the middle a problem!
Post by: Paul99 on April 16, 2012, 18:14:08
230SL 66. Auto.  starts perfectly, runs cold perfectly, when fully hot, runs perfectly, but the bit in the middle is the issue..... when its nearly warmed up, revs drop and then stalls.  Once hot no problem.  i usually start wait for a couple of mins then drive and so not an issue, but noticed it today whilst left running to fully warm up.

What adjustment is suggested please?

This issue has been the topic of discussion here recently; not sure what the topic description says, but I believe the common opinion is that it has to do with the adjustments one can make to the WRD (Warm Running Device), the widget that sits on top of the fuel injection pump, has coolant lines going to it, and can be adjusted in various ways, including with shims. My car has developed the same problem over the past few years and I will be tackling it this summer.

Hi, Come to Chuck Taylor's on April 22.  I'll have 3 WRDs and a FIP for 'Pagoda-ology'.

ok thanks... yep bit of a long swim!  but any feedback around how to tweak the device would be great.
