Title: idle speed solinoid

trying to hook up idle speed solinoid on 1971 280sl non euro does any now of a color coded wiring diagram that i could get a copy of?

Check out the tech manual and the Premium Contents.  There's a really nice color wiring diagram.

What are you trying to hook the solenoid up to? 

It can be used to raise the idle when the auto trans goes into gear, or when the AC is turned on.

idle drops really low when we turn a/c on ,and there is no wiring going to idle speed control ,so trying to figure it out. i found one place that says it should be hooked up to valves on tranny and another post says it should go to venturie and kick down.dont know what to do.

If you want the solenoid to operate when the AC is turned on, run a wire from 87 on the AC compressor relay (or the compressor) to one terminal for positive, and have a constant ground on the other.
