Title: Bottom seat "notches"?
Post by: twistedtree on March 27, 2012, 12:37:19
On a late 230, the seat bottoms are asymmetric with a "notch" on one side back by the hinge.  But are the left and right seat bottoms different or the same, i.e. are both notches adjacent to the center tunnel which would make the seat bottoms different, or are the notches both oriented towards the left or the right?

Thanks

Left and right are different and the 'notch' cutouts are to the outside, not the centre.

OK, so one of my cars has two right seat bottoms.

Are the seat bottom frames different, or is the notch all in the pad and seat cover?  In other words, if I recover the seats will it correct the problem, or do I need to find a left side seat bottom as the underpinnings of a recover job?

Many thanks,

Peter

Poke.  Has anyone taken their seat bottoms apart and know the answer to this?

Hi Peter,
since there are two part numbers for the frames (113 910 11 22 for the left one and 113 910 12 22 for the right one) they are certainly different.
If you look at the "bulges" on each side of the frame you'll see that one side is more pronounced than the other, or tapers not as strongly as the other. The cushion with the notch (as you call it), or the wider bulge on the same side will fit that frame.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Afred.  I guess I'll have to track down a left hand seat bottom frame.
