Title: Expansion Tank Clamps
Post by: ctaylor738 on March 25, 2012, 22:17:51
Getting ready to do some plumbing and mounted the expansion tank and immediately ran into the question of where the tighteners should go.  The pictures of "original" cars are split so I went for the most popular - on the inside center.  Thoughts?

Sorry for the jiggly picture.

For what it's worth...here is a photo of my tank, untouched since it was clamped in place almost 44 years ago. The placement was probably dictated by whoever was installing the tanks on any given day:-)

It's worth a lot.  Thank you.  I will rotate mine up to the 1:30 position.

BTW, what's that behind the voltage regulator?

Chuck,

On John's car, that thing behind the voltage regulator surely looks like the auxiliary 2-position fuse box.  I think I have one on the OTHER side of my car--I believe it is for the electric antenna?

I can't tell for sure on the photo, but the clamps should be natural (silver) CAD plate...they are/were available NEW last year from the CC for less than $5 each.  So low in price, even Tom Hanson did a double take on the price!!

(mine got a little nasty over the years, so new was in order...)

Mike is correct on both counts. Clamps are "silver" in color and that is the fuse holder for the radio/antenna.
