Title: Carpet Feedback and Opinions
Post by: Crazy Hungarian on March 19, 2012, 10:16:52
Howdy, long time lurker, first time poster.
I've been cleaning up and sorting my fathers 65 230SL over the winter with much help from the sticky's and threads on these forums.
Thank you.

I'm in the process of redoing the passenger side floor pans right now with panels I got from K&K.

But after that task is done I'm going to toss some new carpet it in.
From what I've read on here, German square weave is the only way to go, but from whom?
I see World Upholstery and GAHH both have nice kits...but for $825 and $867 respectively, which seems expensive.
Bud's lists their kits for $655.
Is there a big difference in the quality between these?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Sandor

Maybe some, but I think all the carpets are coming from Germany.  Most of the carpet manufactures are in Europe.  I bought my carpets from GAHH, only because they allowed e to order the leather bindings.  Most all of the other carpet kits from World, Buds, etc. are going to come with vinyl bindings.  Prices vary because of the labor.  GAHH and World both cut the carpets, Buds gets the kits from a supplier.  GAHH is the most expensive because their carpets are cut be a computer cutter, and then hand stitched.  It's all about what your taste is and what you want to spend.  They are all going to look good.  Call/write each one and ask for samples.  They will gladly furnish you with samples, then compare.

Try German Auto Tops in North Hollywood.  They're online...
