Does anyone have a picture of the seam between the rear fender and the rear panel at the bumper height on a factory seam? My car had the rear fenders replaced so I have no reference as to how it should look.

Not exactly sure what you are asking about. Here is a shot of the right rear fender of my 280 SL

I know the lh fender has been replaced and suspect the tail panel was too, but it seems to fit together well so was probably done properly. Best to get a known original for a second opinion though.

Thanks,
We are trying to make sure the circled seam is supposed to be flush all the way down. It doesn't lay that way naturally and everything else has just fallen into place.

I see. I expect they should be flush all the way down. Mine are flush at the lower corner of the tail light but the tail panel protrudes by a couple of mm outside the quarter panel at the bottom. Kind of like yours would be if the tail panel was shifted left by a couple of mm, or the rear quarter shifted right. Maybe you could test fit the tail lights in the current configuration. If the lights fit well and that small fender to tail panel discrepancy is symmetrical both sides, it's probably fine like that. I had never noticed mine weren't quite aligned until now.
