Title: Big Bosch Horn
Post by: rb6667 on February 12, 2012, 19:37:43
Is there a way to tell if a horn is the high note or the low note by looking at it?   I have 1 of the 6" large black Bosch horns.  The lettering on the front round plate is not readable....just a solid silver plate that is held on by 2 screws.  The good news is that it works.

Thanks in Advance.

A much earlier post detailed what music note horn each represented and the guy said he played a saxaphone beside them to identfiy the note.  Don't know whether he was kidding but the Hz for each are here either in the forum or the Tech manual, Iv'e got mine off at the moment and one of them is 345 HZ (on my car) sorry I don't know which this is..  If you are smart enough to identify the Hz with a music note could you use a guitar tuner?

Good thought!  I am hopeful that the mounting bracket orientation might yield a clue as to what note this horn is.  It's loud...that much I know.  It came off of a 250SE  1967/68.  The other horn on this car was the smaller horn.  Don't know if it might have been changed.

Thanks for the response.

I just found this on the internet. It gives the frequency of the different notes. I hope it helps.

Thanks for the replies.  Looks like a trip to my friends house with my horn in hand is in order.  He's a sax player.

You might want to consider the new Bosch horns that just came out and are available in Germany.  They are repros of the originals in looks, size, etc.  tones are updated for better safety.  Bosch # 0 986 ASH0 203.  They are 325 and 400 Hz.  Sound great.  60.00 Euros
