Whats it like to change the headlamp cable boot under the front wing {fender} can it be done without taking the connections to the headlamps apart or will they pass through. Thanks .Mike.

I will be curious to see more about this question (I think it has been typed about before) and I do not believe you are able to do this without some amount of disassembly. You may be able to get by with a disassembly of the connector unit (be sure to carefully mark where each of the wires goes to fit it all back together). Depending on the flexibility of the wire and connection, you may not have to go any further than that. The connector does come apart, but the soldered wire connections may prove recalcitrant.

Yes the connector comes apart. There is a trick to releasing the wires on the headlight plugs. Use a small pic tool or micro screwdriver to get them to come out of the plastic connector. Alfred may have a photo of this process also, since we went through it on his car. Be prepared to spend a little time replacing these.

One of the great advantages of modern mobile phones is you've always got a camera to hand. You will need to disassemble the plug in order to extract the cable but just take a picture of the wire orientation once you've removed that plug cover and re-assembly should be a peice of cake.
The last time I checked though, these rubber elbows were NLA.

sls have them, just got a pair.

I've recently replaced mine and one side was much harder than the other, can't remember which though, just use lots of talcum powder as lubrication as it makes the impossible possible.
