Title: Front Valance
Post by: Montreal V8 on January 20, 2012, 17:50:52
Hi all. Does anyone know why Mercedes didn't put the front valance on the production cars.      Both "BB-A 716" and
"S-PY 683" had it, and can be seen in various early adverts and brochures - sure cleans up the front end. In the original North America brochure the artist's impression in scarlet shows it very well. I suspect "S-PY 683" was the "model". Interesting side note - my original brochure states
                         "Mercedes-Benz Sales Inc
A susbidiary of the Studebaker Corporation
                         South Bend 27, Indiana"
A somewhat grandiose statement, as little did many of us know what the future held for Studebaker.
  Cheers, Dale.

I have the Catalog "A" 1963 and it does not show a valance under the bumper. I imagine pre production prototypes were photographed for early service manuals and sales brochures.
