Thank you  Naj and Douglas,,
      for  your responce , the bushings were replaced last year so  maybe its just the circlip . I'll look and see . what do bad bushings look like ? are thay brocken ? while i'm in there I might as well lube every thing , what kind do you recommend? silacolm ,, and forget the crazy spelling i'm  Dyslexic .                      Alex.

Alex,

As I recall, the bushings are white nylon circles. Basically, they look like Lifesavers candy. Achim (also in this group) and I changed mine and used white grease in an aeresol can for lubrication.

My bushings on the gear lever were okay, so I just turned the circlip around so that the square edge was in the groove at about 1 o'clock where it gets hit every time you select reverse or first gear. I did not use any lubricant.
The two smaller outer bushings in the rectangular carrier plate did need replacing.
