Title: How to remove the soft top lid chrome handle to fit new carpet?

I am putting new carpets in, to replace the rear section (semicircle shape on the back firewall ) I need to remove the chrome handle (that opens the soft top cover)  to allow easy fit of the carpet around the handle. Is there a simple way or do i need to remove the whole assemble - only want the handle off.

it is just one nut inside the soft top compartment. The handle then pulls off. When you take off the handle, be sure you don't close the lid without the handle back on and nut tightened. That can be a nightmare you don't want to fall into. Take off the handle, glue the new carpet on the front area of the soft top compartment,  and make a little bolt size slit on the underside of the carpet with a utility knife  and put the handle back on.
