Title: Thanksgiving & a Pagoda
Post by: Atazman on November 23, 2011, 16:37:21
Gents......

I saw this yesterday.  Thankful for the beautiful weather and a Pagoda to enjoy it in!

Don,
Beautiful photo of your Pagoda. Hope you have a leaf blower:-) Just about all the leaves are down at our elevation but they sure look pretty while they last. Have a great Thanksgiving. All our wild turkeys have gone into hiding:-)

Hi Don - - great photo of R RARE 1.

Here is another photo of your Pagoda parked next to mine on NOT such a nice day.

Remember that VERY RAINY FirstSundayDrive event up to Clear Lake?  Was that two years ago?

Regards, Larry

Thanks guys.  After my new coat of paint, I wanted to get a picture with the hard top on.

John......  Those were someone else's leaves, so all I had to do was drive off after they provided the great background.   ;D

Larry..... I have fond memories of that Clear Lake run.  Seeing my car in your picture, though, makes me wonder why I went to all the work of getting it repainted.  Nah!!  as you know, it was looking really bad.

Let me know when you guys are coming through Pleasanton.  I would welcome a good chat.

Hi Don,

Love that picture !!   May I ask - what size tires are you running on those Bundt alloys?

Cheers, Hank

And cheers to you, Hank.  Just got back from a weekend out of town, so will respond to your question......

The tires are Pirelli Centurion P205/70/R14.  They have been a great tire.

They do not seem as wide as the tires I had on before (which I really liked the looks of), but these are definitely easier to steer when parking.

Peter....  great meal!!

Well, we had rain on Thanksgiving -- but it has been nice ever since! And just when I had put the soft-top up for the season... so, of course, down it went! Here are a couple shots from today. The first, a nice dogwood in my driveway, the second just up the road in Nevada City...

Hey James, beautiful photos! Leaves are all gone down here but the weather sure has been nice the past couple of days. Almost folded the top back down today to take my car out for another "topless" spin. Maybe tomorrow.

Hey Don (atazman),

I love your photo composition that includes that amazing Craftsman home.   And thanks for the tire info.   I'll be doing 205/70/14 BSW on my Bundt alloys and will go with a more classic looking 195/75/14 WSW for the steel wheels.

Cheers, Hank

Are you kidding me, Hank??  Is that really a Craftsman home?  After I saw your post, I researched "Craftsman home", but did not come up with anything like the home in my picture.

No....  my picture was real.  I just found lots of leaves, autumn background color, and someone's beautiful home.  Snapped a shot, and then drove away.  ;D

Not being an architect (but a house hunter of late), I do see some elements of a "Craftsman or a "California Craftsman" in that home. To me, its kind of a vague set of details usually semi-unique, including general wood siding, porches and a pillared front entrance, and variety of gabled roof lines. Popular in California in the mid 1900s I think. Some are smaller bungalows but many higher end custom homes in California are now incorporating the style. They are usually really nice.

The Thanksgiving Turkey is long gone and it was a nice day out today so we went out for a drive. A little chilly (45f) so the top stayed up and the heater on (SWMBO, sorry Rumpole,  was along for the ride and was very comfortable:-). Still some fall color but winter will be here in a few weeks.

John, I love the light tan top over that beautiful #050 paint.   What a joy it must be, to own and drive "an original" - from day ONE !!!

Cheers & Happy Holidays,

Hank

Thanks Hank, I always liked the color combo. Most of the 050 cars had black tops but I opted for the tan top when I ordered the car. And you are so right! It is a joy to drive. When I get behind the wheel, I am 24 again, at least in spirt if not mind and body:-)
