I'm having a bit of trouble fathoming out the exact routing of the fuel and brake lines at the back axle end and wonder if anyone has a photos of this area that might help me.

Take 2, the front this time!
I seem to be having a bit more trouble with the routing of my fuel lines but at the front this time. TheLews kindly helped me out with some excellent pictures of the rear which is now all OK but I was wondering if anyone with a right hand drive car could help me with how they enter the engine bay. One pipe seems to be shorter and is very hard and took a lot of force to bend, I think that’s the feed pipe, the other is smaller and much more malleable but seems to be very long so could route up along the footwell and firewall. The pictures I have before I took things apart seem to show the pipes running under the idler support as they are now but are not good enough to see properly and the lines may have been replaced incorrectly at some stage.
Also, it seems to me that there should be a clamp on the inside of the chassis leg as I have a drilled hole but no clamps left over so I don’t think one was there when I took it apart. I attach some pictures of the area in question and wonder if anyone can help?

Hi David,
Not too sure how original my car is, brake lines have certainly been renewed. I have 2 fuel lines and a brake line bundled together
as they come under the bottom of the bulkhead. the brake line runs between the bulkhead and the steering idler. The fuel supply
and return run the other side of the idler. There is not a drilled hole on my car, also the plugged hole(s) are not there. Do you have
a replacement chassis leg? Its a bit difficult getting a camera in there with the engine in situ.

Thanks Larry that certainly helps and it seems that your set up is the same as I have in the pictures. I don't have a new chassis leg but I do have a lot more holes in the body which were drilled to allow drainage when it was dipped, the small hole I thought could hold a bracket does look original though as it has the thread marks of a self tapper in it.

Can you post a picture of how the rubber fuel pipes are routed from the fuel tank?
I need to replace some cracked ones and would like to get the right.

In the #7 responce the last photo looks like the line is bent or kinked. You should check it before going further incase there is a problem with it.

You're quite right Brad, I damaged it during bending so I need to get another one and take more care.

Have any of you got the bracket circled in red?
Should the main rubber fuel pipe (to engine) be secured to it with a 'P' clip or similar?

Hi Naj,
If you mean the clamp that can be seen in picture 1 from my rear fuel lines post it's an additional fuel tank support according to Gavin Edwards.

Thanks for the pictures.
Confirms there is a 'P' clip (sharing a stud with the coffee can) securing the main pipe to the engine.
Thanks also to David for Gavin Edwards comment. There seems to be someting there in Brian Peter's picture but not quite clear. We'll have to keep digging!

Hello Naj,
The small bracket that you have a query with is a 90 degree piece of metal ,the top section (the part that goes to the tank has a piece of rubber moulded to it to act an insulation/vibration damper) and the other end has an elongated hole in it so that you can adjust the tension.

Hello Naj,
There are three flat plain washers fitted to my car (these would be origional as the fuel tank did not appear to have been off since day one) ,presumably plain washers were used so that the position of the bracket could be located fully onto the tank seam.
I think these are the parts that you require -
1 -112 470 06 81 Angle
1 - 000 987 47 40 Rubber Buffer
As Required - 009021 006103 Washer

Thanks to everyones help I think I’ve worked out how the fuel lines are clamped at the front and after buying another set I’ve eventually managed to bend them to fit. I do have to say that it did prove quite difficult as they are very hard to bend, particularly the feed line. Anyway, all in place now except for the fact that I do seem to have a lot of return pipe feeding into the engine bay and wonder if someone knows how this should run.
