Title: Right hand drive firewall pad

Hi,

Regarding the recreation of the RHD pad,  a template has been made which has been forwarded to Alfred in order to make the 'die cutter' but we want to be sure the template is 100% correct. It has been reproduced, we believe, from an original firewall.

The query with the RHD template we have is the following:

The RHD template does not have the two small border pieces at the bottom of the rectangle indicated in the attached photo. It would be good to find out which one is the older (or more correct) version.

Also indicated with a red rectangle is an area where the RHD template has a very narrow (2mm) slot that is not really visible in the photo.  Alfred knows that the die cutter cannot cut slots that narrow because the piece cannot be removed easily.

It would be good to obtain a photo that shows what this slot is used for and then decide how to proceed.

Pictures of a RHD orginal pad but unfortunately not clear enough. This is not the firewall used for the RHD template in Alfred' possesion.

Maybe Geoff, if you still own this car you could have a look.

Andy,

Five photos of each of the cutout positions on a RHD pad have been send by PM.

My car does not have the flaps below the cutout for the hood catch but that is not an original pad. I think that they should be there but am unable to confirm what the original had.  Is anyone with an original pad able to confirm that there is material below the Hood catch box pointed to in the photo?

I think mine is an original pad.
It does have the flaps below the bonnet/hood catch.
Also the small slot you talk about just looks like a cut rather than a slot
and does not appear to do anything.
A difficult area to photograph but I hope these help.

Andy & Garry,
looks like the flaps need to be there.
But now another problem spot has surfaced, what does the pad look like behind the switch that senses the gear selection? This is the area where there is the small slit in Kevin's template that I indicated with a red rectangle in the first photo.
It appears from the photo that Gnuface posted that the switch sits on top of the pad and that the two cut outs might be used for the fixing screws?

It is a little difficult to see but the wide notch fits round the gear position switch mounting,to the right
almost level with the edge of the switch is a small cut in the material, not wide enough to be called
a slot. Just like a stanley knife cut. It does not seem to be for anything.
