Title: Overflow tank pipimg
Post by: 69280sl on October 26, 2011, 17:20:32
In a picture posted by John, 49er, of his engine bay when his car was new, there was no hose attached to the metal outlet elbow of the coolant overflow tank. Anyone have opinions on whether or not there was a hose as most cars currently have?

Very observant Gus, no hose when delivered. I put a hose on later myself.

Thanks John. That same picture showed what looked like a Castrol(?) sticker on the oil filler cap. Is that factory or something put on by your oil change place?

The Mercedes dealer put it on. The black and white photo of the engine (no Castrol sticker) was taken the night I drove it home from the dealer. The color photo showing the sticker was taken about 6 months later. Sure wish I had taken more pictures!
BTW, the photo I took of my 250SL engine bay also shows no hose on the overflow tank.
