Now that we are into harvest I thought I would share some pictures of two of my passions.

Great pictures of your car and a good looking vineyard too. When I looked at your first picture I thought maybe Google was using your Pagoda for one of those Street View cars :)

Thanks John. Here are two more.

Marcus:
Is that your "harvest machine".
I note that it fits perfectly between the rows....
I should have helped myself to your headlights when you were sleeping....love those euros!
Car looks great and so do the grapes!
-
here some pic from the Mosel Valley
No machines. You must pick the grapes with your hand, hard work.
Peter
i don`t know that you have vineyards in Canada

As always, beautiful photos Peter. I am afraid our California vineyards are not that green this time of year but the grapes are ripe and will soon be harvested. We enjoy wine from all over the world but still find many of the California varietals hard to beat:-)

Very nice pictures Peter, I hope to visit the Mosel next year. We have about 16000Ac (6500Ha) under vine here in the Niagara Peninsula. This area also grows peaches, plums, cherries, apples, pears, apricots and a whole assortment of vegetables. Lake Ontario acts like a huge heat sink to moderate our winter temperatures, as well as an escarpment that keeps the air moving. Our summer climate is not much different than that in Bordeau, only a bit shorter. We still need wind machines for spring and fall frost as well as the odd very cold night during the winter. Our vineyard is relatively small compared to those in California or Australia, only 48Ac. We grow Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc and Gamay (just planted to replace a block of Merlot). There are probably about 40 or 50 varieties of wine grapes grown across the Peninsula. Harvest for sparkling wine started about 3 weeks ago and will now continue for table wine until early November. Harvest for ice wine will occur from December to February. Fall is a great time of year. ;D ;D

Hello Jordan and John
its like the Mosel valley, we are a little bit north, so the water keep the temperature higher.
Here are the vineyards smaller. My brother working on 2,5 ha most is Riesling,Rivaner,Weißburgunder,Müller-Thurgau, Dornfelder and he have a Distillation for apple, Williams Christ pear, Grappa and so on.
In the 50s and 60s we had cold springs. So they build a water pipe and put the vineyards under ice until the sun come out in the morning.
i am happy you come to the mosel river and we meet us here for a glass wine.
sorry for my bad school english

Another beautiful warm day here today so what better thing to do but take the SL out for a drive. Our Vineyards don't look as nice yours, Jordan and Peter, but the wine is pretty good:-) This one is a couple of miles from home and I believe these are Zinfandel vines.
No need to Apologize for your English Peter. Looking forward to a return visit to Enkirch and having another glass of that fine Mosel wine with you

As John says Peter, no need to apologize for your English. I wish I could speak German half as well as you speak English. It would be a pleasure meeting up and sharing one or two glasses of wine.
CA has some great wines John. My wife and I were in your neck of the woods a few years ago and we toured Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino. Made it to San Fran for the Zin festival in February. Fantastic reds. I just wish we could have brought more home.
