The featured color for the new SLS AMG roadster at the Mercedes-Benz website is a dark brown. They call it Sepang Brown (named after the Malaysian racing circuit):

Some of us will insist on a #746 Happich canvas soft-top.

That would look really nice with a beige top... but brown is coming back in fashion in Europe...
Look at the Citroen DS4, frequently shown in brown.
And I own a tobacco brown Volvo XC70... I was the first in my town to order it in brown with a light beige interior. The dealer liked the combination so much, he kept it in his showroom for 2 weeks before delivering the car to me. In my town this color combination is now pretty common...

Well that's great news for tobacco brown owners like myself! Brown paint is a great way to subdue a flashy car.
-
I would have to agree with that.

Have you been shopping again?

i'm afraid i couldn't resist :)

Your taste in repairs and spares has got seriously more expensive!!
Tell us more about the 600!
-
ahh, that's one of the reasons i couldn't resist. The car has been fully restored by the 600 specialist, Karl Middlehauve, so is in top condition. I purchased it after seeing it at the Mercedes Sl day. The owner was selling a few toys.
Picked it up from Dublin a months ago- love it.
Will probably hire it out for weddings and use for special trips with the Mrs or the boys. Planning on a short euro trip in it next month.
Attached a pic of it leaving from the car park at 'the Clarence' in Dublin early hours to catch the return ferry after a late night with the past owner (my friend, a mechanic, driving)

We did Goodwood revival in it last month and then driven home. Very comfy!

Andy,
That is some machine. Congratulations. Now you will need a new garage to fit them all
How is its firewall pad, nah, don't even mention it.
-
Thanks Garry.
Anyway, back to the orginal point which is that brown can look great on certain cars.
I also love 280se's in Tobacco brown with Cognac interior. Lovely!

Drewtee,
I'm confused (easy to do ;) )
Your 600 looks grey in the picture of the rear of the car.
Is it really brown, tobacco brown?
-
Does look a bit grey in that pic. No not Tobacco, a bronze metallic. On the registration document it is described as brown.
-
wow, honoured!! You got to stop in an empty bit of street outside the Clarence ;D
Wife tells me that they make a stunning cosmo in the bar there - we were there in January

We thought it would be a bit rock n roll ( owned by Bono and The Edge) but the rooms weren't great, needs updating.
