Well after a two month wait, my ebay seller decided he would send my headrests.
Quick Q:
The headrest poles have a slight curve in them, the rails are perfectly flat, is this normal or have I something wrong?
Cant see how they would retract all the way down.
Thanks

That is normal, from memory I think there is a kind of flat metal spring in
the tubes which creates the friction required to hold the headrests at any
height. The spring acts against the curve.
Hope that makes sense.

Great thanks,
I have the grommets, rails, headrests... anything else I need apart from general tools, rivets etc?
Thanks

The biggest challenge I found was cutting the holes in the leather seat top. Measure twice and cut once!
I obtained an instrument for cutting holes in card from a craft shop. Bit like a pair of compasses with
a blade instead of a pencil. Worked a treat.
As for where to put the holes, I installed the rails and pressed the leather down on top of the rail
top (a sort of cone shape) marking this on the leather (might be an idea to put masking tape on the leather for this)
Insert a headrest into an uninstalled rail and measure where the centre of the headrest arm is in relation to the
cone shape. Use that as the hole centre datum on your seat top. Worked for me.
Don't make the hole too large as the grommets will tend to pull through, but of course
you only really get one go! Perhaps a little smaller than the dia. of the grommet as the leather will give a little.
Good luck
