Title: Help with chrome door trim
Post by: 69280sl on August 19, 2011, 20:02:54
Speaking of the trim at the top, exterior of the door.

It has been so long since I removed it that I cant remember to reverse the step(s). The clips were never disturbed and are in place.

I have hooked it on at the top and tried to snap in in place at the bottom. I have also tried the reverse (hooking it at the bottom...).

I don't want to get too persuasive and bend something. Can anyone help

Thanks,
Gus

Since it took me a while to figure it out, I will post the solution here in the hope that it may save someone else some time and aggravation.

The trim pops off readily enough, but it does not pop back on. You have to remove the clips from the door. These clips also hold the exterior side fuzzy. As you lever off the clips (with something under the tool to prevent marring the paint) the fuzzy comes off attached to the clips. The trim side of the clips (barbed) can now be worked into the channel on the back side of the trim. The entire assembly; trim, clips and fuzzy can be be forced down into the "lip" at the top of the door to finish the installation.

Gus, I appreciate this advice too.  Getting ready to assemble after a re-paint.
