Title: Hello from New Zealand
Post by: boaty on August 07, 2011, 02:13:44
After years of being "but a voyeur" on this forum I have now finally brought myself a Pagoda - not the easiest things to come by in this neck of the woods so it has been a very long search, but worth the wait as this one was meant for me! She is a 65 Beige and Havana Brown 230 - could these things be one of the most beautiful pieces of automotive design ever? I just can’t stop admiring it - from every angle there is just something captivating...

Just thought I would share a couple of pictures and say Kiaora (native for hello)

Hi Jonathon
Just to say hello and welcome from the UK.
We have a daughter in Auckland so maybe next time we are over we
can get to see your great looking car.

Wow Jonathan the car looks great, I hope you will get to enjoy it for many many years.
after a very long search I also just got my 1967 250SL Pagoda about 3 months ago, however I did not get to drive it yet because it was parked for about a couple of years and it is sitting with my mechanic for a thorough check and cleaning.
it is about 50 degrees (C) here in Kuwait now which is about 120+ F, and this is too hot to take it out on a drive so I am hoping to get it back by no later than the end of September (I can then take it out on the evenings at least) till the weather is cooler to drive with the top down.
I am glad you have got yours and it sure looks very nice.
Congratulations Jonathan

Hi Jonathan

I must say she looks AWESOME. Well done. I'm sure that you will get hours of motoring pleasure when the spring and summer comes around.

Hello Jonathan,
welcome to the group. Nice color combination , but what is a "65 beige"? Looks like we do not have that one in our paint code collection:

Hi......... for that year, wouldn't it be #181H?   Easy for me to say "lovely", since mine is beige also  ;D

Cheers, Hank

Thank you all for the welcome - it has been pouring with rain here for the past couple of days and I am chomping at the bit to go for a drive! Yes the colour is 181H - beautiful colour combo and not one that was on the wish list but as I have found out with these cars you take the best you can get and go from there, however after a little cut and polish it has come up great and I can't imagine another colour for me!

Sableo, 50 deg - I would just be a puddle on the ground, congratulations on your purchase though and as I wait for summer to enjoy mine I find it amusing that you are waiting for winter to enjoy yours.

Larry - I am on Waiheke Island, a great day trip from the city so pop on over when you are next in Auckland.

What a great place to live, we visited the Island on our last trip to Auckland.
Hope to take you up on your offer one day!
