Title: Hood torsion bar

I removed my torsion bar some time ago to repaint the hood. Now I come to refit the hood I am having trouble refitting the torsion bar. I understand that i am going to have problems actually fitting the hood, but my problem is actually fitting the rod into the hood. Am I doing it wrong? Any step by step instructions out there?
