Title: Distributor Vacuum Line
Post by: ALP on July 19, 2011, 23:36:57
Everyone:

I have a 1971 280SL.  Distro is model 0231 185 010.  While spinning the distro body today I manged to snap the original cloth-covered vacuum advance hose.  Since this hose is routed up against and over  hot parts of the engine, I do not want to replace it with common tubing.  Any idea how to source the old style cloth-covered high-temp hose?

Thanks,

Andy

I bet that it's the same stuff as the leak off lines used on an older diesel.

Hello,

Most of the line should be hard plastic.  A bt of cloth covered makes the connection.

My 111 has that cloth covered hose for the fuel venting lines as well as the distributor. I tried the Classic Center a couple of years ago, and all they had is just rubber tubing without the cloth covering. Maybe they have some now but I doubt it.

Hi--

Don't forget to look to other sources such as those who sell VW parts.

I replaced all the vaccuum lines and vent lines on my Type 181 VW a few years ago.

Check for parts here:

Thanks for the lead Joe! That looks like that will work well.
