Title: 5 speed ZF What are the ratios?
Post by: jmhinsf on June 18, 2011, 23:17:58
The availability of the new ZF five speed is very tempting.  Can anyone tell me the gear ratios in this box?  Thanks.

6,850 Euros plus VAT for a non-original transmission.  :o

A Getrag 265 or Temec T-5 conversion can be completed for half the cost.  Just sayin'

I looked at the tech manual and was uncertain as to whether some sedans might have the ZF tansmission so many people are looking for.  It seemed like it might be possible. (?)  I ask because in the last week or so in looking for parts/parts cars I have run across a 250se 5 spd sedan and a 280se 5 spd sedan.  They were both low mile and low price cars. Prices were many times lower than the used price I have seen for the zf itself.  Is it a possibility that any of these would be a possible donor for an SL wanting that transmission.
