I found a 60 220SE that is being parted out locally...the part number on the shoes is 1804230608 which is different than the SL's but they sure look the same.

Check with Tom at the classic center. I think they will only work if the car has disc brakes in the front. The ones with front drums have different shoes in back. So 1963 or newer finbacks would be ok.

More generally, are drums, shoes, and other brake parts from fintails that fit the 230 SL in high demand, expensive, etc? Are these parts I should be salvaging and offering for sale? I hadn't really considered used brake parts as something to acquire since I'm used to being able to source brake parts for my cars new, but is that not the case for an early pagoda?
thanks

Well they are available new if you are interested in paying $1200 for a brake drum and $230 per shoe or $920 for the set of shoes,
