I have an annoying leak at the speedometer cable where it goes into the transmission housing. Is the seal in the cable itself or is there a o-ring or such that can be replaced separately?
Thank you!

Manual or automatic trans?

Sorry, it is an automatic!

Hello Wallace,
There should be 2 seals in the speedometer housing that fits into the rear of the transmission. As far as I know, there are no small seals in the cable itself.
A005 997 52 45 is the larger seal that provides a seal for the speedometer drive housing and A115 274 00 60 is the smaller seal that is responsible for providing a seal for the speedometer drive shaft that connects to the cable.
However, A115 274 00 60 is NLA and has been for quite some time.
Interestingly, we had this discussion on the forum some time last year about the seal for the tachometer drive of the pagodas and the following part number is applicable as a replacement: A007 997 73 46
Hope this helps.

Thanks Jaco, I will try those out.

I took the speedometer cable out by removing the Allen head bolt from the housing clamp on the rear of the trans. I was going to replace the oring seal on the clamp housing itself, but it wouldn't come out.
Any tricks for getting that off? I am hoping you don't have to remove the side cover as the space is very tight there. How do you go about replacing the speedometer drive shaft seal?
Thank you for the help!
