Hello,
Does anyone know where I can source the chrome ring that is inserted around the ignition switch? The metal tabs on mine have broken off.

Take a trip to the junkyard.  I got one off a 74 240D that I think is exactly the same.  There are other models that would probably fit as well.  Maybe someone can chime in on this.  I'm told this part is NLA.

Good advice from RB,

Many of the other MBs of the era are the same. These chrome rings are NLA at this time.  Be careful to take some measurements since there are three slightly different sizes of these on various MB models !

The rings are not quite nla - SLS sells (reproductions?) the one for the 230SL/250SL (-> Jul 67) for Eur 14 and for later cars for Eur 17 (plus shipping, w/o tax) and all without the rubber washer.

Perhaps a good price - but it is a different part!
The auction is for the cap over the ignition lock cylinder (and it fits only early 280SL VIN <011947 USA cars, not later ones)
