1971 280sl. 107,000 miles, had injection pump rebuilt about 6000 miles ago, had injectors checked at same time. car just started surging at high speed about 55mph and over under acceleration, can anyone tell me what to check?

Hello,
I assume you are describing an engine surging and not a high speed engine miss.
Standard tune up items should be checked first...........timing, distributor vacuum advance, fuel filter, fuel pressure and volume, ignition points, spark plugs and wires, engine linkage set up.
If nothing shows up there, you could do a "split linkage CO test" to determine if you may need an injection pump adjustment.
Lots of information on all these items already posted, but get back with us if you need more information or additional clarification of any of these items.
Keep us up to date.

wondering how you can tell if it is a high speed miss?

Hello,
Here is my thoughts on the two................A" high speed miss" feels like a cylinder or cylinders are cutting in and out. It may be a kind of slight jerking feelingfrom the engine. A "surging" engine is one which may be running smooth but speeds up or slows down while the accelerator pedal is constant.

Thanks for info.Put new plugs in runs perfect. Thanks

It's great when the cheap and simple items fix the problem ! Spark plugs are a good place to start.
