Title: Sway Bars
Post by: Tammostubbe on March 09, 2011, 04:09:07
The topic of installing thicker swaybars has been discussed on this forum before, and the 30 mm bar from Cox Racing was used by some members with success.  I have contacted Andrew Cox, and he unfortunately no longer supplies these swaybar.  Have other members found alternatives ?

I used to have one of the Cox sway bars and loved it. I would love to find another one, including having one custom made. Mark

Will the ones from a 4.5 sedan be thicker and will they fit?  I have 2 for free local pick up.

The air suspension cars like the 300SEL will fit just like the 4.5 bar and I believe they are thicker at 25.5mm, but you must grind down the pinch weld a bit where they will interfere.  They will work just fine.

I used a 25.5 on my vinatge racer with urethane bushings and it helped quite a bit.  I wonder if a 30mm bar will result in too muich oversteer?.  You will need to do soemthing to balance the car properly like perhaps cranking in more enegative camber at the rear.

Anything to mitigate the car body rolling excessively can only help.
