Title: ? re. 280 SL carpet

Does the original 280 SL carpet have a rectangular piece of plastic stitched into the carpet to the right of the accelerator pedal?

The parts book indicates one, but I don't recall off the top of my head.

my '69 Euro does not have the plastic piece next to the pedal.  Original carpet as far as I can tell.

Yeah, I looked at a couple of pix and that appears to be the case. Thanks, George. (Funny how the parts book shows it otherwise.)
