Many of us here have probably dealt with the Classic Centre and especially the helpful Tom Hanson
Spare a thought for Tom who has lost his son in a car accident a week or so ago.
My condolences to Tom and his family.

Having dealt with Tom a few times I came to the quick conclusion that he is a good man. It's very sad that he has to bear that kind of loss.
-
My condolences go to Tom and his family. it's not right. A child should never go before their parents.
-
This is a terrible, horrific tragedy. I am particularly saddened to learn that none of the occupants of the car were wearing seat belts. This is so sad for four families that lost children who only began to taste life.

There is nothing that can be said that will ease the pain for Tom and his family. I offer my condolences on this immeasurable loss.

I too will offer my most sincere sympathy to Tom. I have been dealing with him on a potential Paogda event, and he took a brief amount of time to respond to my email with a comment about dealing with an emergency. I had no idea at the time of what the issue was, and was just knocked to the floor when I found out.

My card was mailed to Tom and his family today:

I lost my younger brother 35 years ago to a farm accident. My father found him back in the field and had to tell my mother after he returned from looking for him. He never got over it.
I wasn't home at the time and when I found out I never really got over it either.
My thoughts go out to Tom as well. It's a hell of a thing to experience and go through.

Sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of you. I would hope that you put your children in some kind of advanced or defensive driving school before they start driving in this crazy world. If you haven't had any formal training yourself, please consider it for you own good as well. Cars can get away from you very quickly, and the results are often fatal. I wish my son had taken some courses. I know, they cost a lot of money. But it is money well spent. No parent should ever have to endure this kind of pain. There are no words to describe it. I'm doing ok, but still have my "moments". It's good to be back at work. Keep in touch, all of you. Many thanks again for your kindness.

I am so sorry Tom.
Your words however may help others. I volunteer/teach a teen driver awareness class with an organization called Street Survival http://streetsurvival.org/ (http://streetsurvival.org/) and also think of it as beneficial for all. In the state of Illinois since 2008 teen traffic related deaths have been reduced by 52% partly because of efforts like Street Survival. With continued awareness we hope to make a difference every year.
Again I am sorry for your loss.

I just received notification that MB is expanding their teen driving program. I don't know much about it, but my daughter will never get in a car behind the wheel w/o some kind of "Street Survival" program. Life is too precious.

Tom. I am also so sorry to hear about your terrible loss. I think your wife was also once involved in a car accident. I can only imagine what you are both going through and I feel for you.
My condolences, Tom Colitt

Thank you Tom for your advice at this difficult time. Our girls are a decade away from learning to drive, but I know I will remember your words when the time comes.

I am so sorry to hear about Tom's son death. I too don't read this topic of the web site as often as I do the other topics of the forum. I met Tom at StarFest 2010. Great guy. Most of the time I order parts from Classic Center, it is with Woodie. I know the it is a great lost for Tom and do send my condolences.

Oh, Tom -
Just came across this thread. Our kids are still with us, yet Joe's use of "anguish" helps in imagining what a catastrophe it must be.
[We met at Startech in Indy, during lunch with the Leslers just before departure; reference: convex lenses for outside mirrors on 113s.]
I am so very sorry for your loss.
