. Your material does look like leather;  there are a few companies that will sell kits. It would be hard to match the original if you only have to replace a few pieces though. If you have the original vinyl covering on the dash you can't "replace" it with a substitute. The foam on the back is fused to the vinyl and will be destroyed for the most part if you try to remove the vinyl, particularly along the edges. Over the instrument cluster you can get it off with heat, but the only real alternative that I am aware off at that time is to recover it with leather

That loos like cognac 250 leather.  Check GAHH on line.  Their sample is close to the original.  My seats in my 280 SE 4.5 are being refinished with this.  (In the shop now)  There are other companies on line also.  Do a search.

Almost done.  I just have to put them back in the car.  Pictures look a little different color than actual. It must be the lighting.  All the pleats and perforations are exactly as the originals.  I know I got what I paid for.

Final seat pictures.  The lighting is not good in the garage so I will have to get some nice outside pictures in the spring.

Out of curiousity, Brad--it looks like you had your seats apart, completely, and out of the car for the process.

How did you find the condition of the steel springing?  Anything broken?

Everything was in good condition.  The springs were not rusty or broken either.  I replaced the horse hair on the drivers seat with NOS pad.  The shop used cotton padding instead of foam for extra firmness.  This car is in excellent condition with most of the factory paint and no rust ever.  (Drivers side painted due to scrape by prior owner)

And the car goes like a true strassencruiser!!. ..  New seats must add at least 5 mph.  Good going, Brad.
