Hi Guys
I need your help: I have a 1969 280SL that I fully restored 3 years ago through a company specializing in Mercedes restoration. I was lucky, the car was in great condition to start with, not an ounce of rust (Las Vegas car), replaced every piece of rubber, exhaust, transmission rebuild, new leather upholstery etc etc - would rate the condition as A-/B+ (we kept everything original, thus the wood is as is, not removed or replaced, but entirely crack-free).
Everything on the car is original, matching Vin, drives perfect (79000miles, 3000 since renovation).
Now, here is my question: I am thinking of parting ways with the car - not because I don't love it, but because I need to invest in my company.
Where would I find information about the value of the car (Ebay does not seem to be the way to go), is there something like a Kelly Blue Book for old cars (in the US); Schwacke Liste (Germany) etc?
What part of the world would you sell the car - considering the low US dollar, exporting to Europe might make a lot of sense.
Any idea of value - where would you expect this to be?

There is a price guide by Sports Car Market, and Cars of Particular Interest has a guide as well. But I bet you get enough opinions from here to go by.

There is a very active market for 113s on www.mercedesheritage.com. You can gauge your car's value against what's advertised. I listed a car there and got several inquiries from Europe.

Hi, I too am trying to decide a selling price for my brown 1970 280SL. (I am making room for my metallic blue 1971 manual transmission and steering european car) It is a totally rust free car from California, in brown/parchment, with Auto transmission, A/C, both tops, and low documented miles. all of the cars that I find to compare against have either been restored, or have high mileage. My car is original, unrestored, and low mileage. It has had small bits of work done, like having its wood refinsihed, new headliner, tires, shocks. It has been painted once a few years back, but the bottom of it looks like it just drove out of the factory. Does anyone have any thoughts on what original unrestored, and great condition should be worth, compared to the restored cars that I always see?

Go through the list of cars that were sold by Motoringinvestments.com (http://Motoringinvestments.com). You'll see some mildly restored and some extensively restored cars, to get some ideas. You might also ask Brian whether he is interested in marketing your car - he is always on the look out for "unmolested" cars, as is Bob at http://www.cascadiaclassic.com/ (http://www.cascadiaclassic.com/) . Both have contributed here.
