Title: automatic not shifting into 4.

my automatic transmission (69 280 sl) is not shifting into the 4. gear, 1,2,3, no problem but not the 4. any suggestions what to look for?

Two things:

You know that the box only uses 2 - 3 - 4 in normal driving so you will only feel 2 gearchanges as the car will only start in first with the select lever in 2nd or kickdown?

Secondly make sure that the linkage between the box and the select gate is correctly adjusted and that the transmission is not blocked in third.
