Title: Antenna location?
Post by: 69280sl on October 19, 2010, 01:44:29
I remember seeing a dimensioned diagram showing the location of the antenna installation hole on the right front fender. Now that I need that info I can't find it. I have searched the tech manual and the forum threads, no luck.

Would appreciate some help in finding it, or a JPEG (or whatever format) copy of the diagram.

Thanks
Gus

32 centimeters towards the front from the rear edge of the A-pillar chrome
&
4 centimeters to the right from the left edge of the passenger's side fender, that's the edge towards the engine hood, the one with the nice spot welds.

Antenna hole is 18 millimeters diameter.

Sorry I don't have the dimensions in inches
and don't have the nice Hirschmann drawing on hand which proves these numbers.

Good luck !

Thank you Achim. At a cost all out of proportion to the benefit, I am relocating the antenna from the rear quarter to the front fender (factory location). Your information will help me get it right.

Gus,
why do want to do this?
The rear fender location is quite appropriate for your car and radio.

Alfred:

My radio and antenna is a dealer installation and apparently the original owner got to choose where he wanted the antenna. He chose the right side, rear. All the information I was able to find indicated right front (every car I've seen) or left rear as the link you provided shows. It has always bothered me that the antenna was not in the "official" location, so now I'm dealing with it, although the money could probably have been spent more efficiently.

Thanks for your information and interest.

Thanks Naj:
Both Achim and Bruce Petersen (Tulltyme) responded to me, but putting it in the WIKI may help someone ekse and makes the manual more complete.
