Title: 230 SL Manual Transmission Count
Post by: Darren on October 13, 2010, 19:45:08
Can anyone confirm how many 230 SL's European Spec were made with Manual transmission. Data needed for UK Govt car import form.

Thanks in advance.

Darren.

Nonsense.  :o

Darren,

This is not necessary for the UK Govt car import form. The requesters are stupid there.
These numbers just don't exist officially. Just tell them.

We know nowadays how many 230ies or 280ies were built, how many were exported and perhaps how many were sold to Germany. But the Daimler-Benz internal statistics do not tell us how many had manual or automatic gear change - at least not divided by the countries.
In total 19831 230ies were built among which roughly 6200 were automatics and the others about 14000 Schaltgetriebe-cars (stick-shift).
And ah yes, there were more engines built than cars.

Good luck
Achim

I have a 66' euro & it's a 4 speed.Honestly I didn't think that any of the 230 euros were auto's. I didn't think that any of the euro 230's came with whitewalls either.Tell them you won't answer the question unless they can tell you what they are going to do with the information!
