Title: Hardtop ribs
Post by: atuningley on October 07, 2010, 19:52:44
Just joined your group after looking from the outside for the last 2 years. I bought a 250 3 years ago W113 10001734 for reasons now completely unknown to me, found it was worse than I expected and have been inrestoration mode since. Went to bare metal and down to the last bolt and I now have the body ready and painted, engine fully complete and I am in reassembly mode. So I hope to use some of your wealth of knowledge to help out.

Question: The hardtop is also at bare metal and I am ready to paint it and I cannot find the original color, (The car is ivory white).  Were all the tops white or was the black-white combination common?

Question: When I look at the primered top the structural ribs inthe roof are visible, not deep but visible.  Is this common or do I have a damaged top and should replace it?

Thanks in advance, I hope to have a rescued car to show you soon.

The hardtop color is shown on the small metal plate inside the engine compartment by the hood latch, three numbers followed by either a G (for Glasurit paint) or H (for Herbet sp?). There should be two color codes one for the car, one for the hardtop (the hard top should match the center of the painted hubcaps).
