Hi Guys
Just wanted to say thank you for all your help during my 2 year ownership of a 1970 280SL in signal red.
which I have now sold and for this reason I will not renew my full membership, but I might still pop in every once in a while to get a little of that famous pagoda kick I came to love so much, so who knows I might be back some time in the future.
Once again thanks for all your advice, great stories and wonderfull pictures of your great cars... As Ole Henriksen would say... I LOVE IT...
Good luck...

So now I'm the only guy representing the glorious Danish advertising industry left here...dang!
But I'm glad that you finally managed to sell the car - but at the same time sad, that you had to...
Best wishes

I tried to go cold turkey by selling my Pagoda. I was clean for two years but the call of the 113 was too strong and I once again fell under its spell.

It was always my intention to make a few bucks on importing a car for the US and sell it.
One of my family members have importet quite a few Corvettes and made a litle extra that way so I got intriqued by the idea, but the Corvette C5 are not my idea of a sundaycruiser that you would invest in, and its also way to expensive in registration. So I was looking for a car over 35 years (=cheap Zoll and registration) and it had to be sought after, rare and have real charm. It did not take my long to find out that the Pagoda had all of this. (and it had a 20.000$ profitpotential) Then I spend 1,5 years searching the net at reading all adverts on Ebay etc. Finally I found a spiciment that fit my walletsize. But it took 2,5 months to arrive and when I finally had it on the roads the Finansecrisis had begun!
It took 2 years and its finally sold, but without a profit!(only in life enjoyment) - In the meantime my familymember sold 4 Corvettes C5s...!
But I am sure I have had much more fun and enjoyment then he had. He Never had one of his cars registred, and only drove them on the roads on a few occations, because of the registration cost of maybe a 50.000$, for a 20.000$ car!
Anyway I came to love the car on the way, and me and my son will miss it very much. I now have the funds to put a new roof on my house and a happier wife not nagging me all time about the car in the driveway.
I hope the new owner will find his way here, as this is a true "must be" place on the internet if you want even more enjoyment of the Pagoda.

Just out of curiosity - who bought it? Is it staying here in DK or did it go abroad (you can get a refund on your registration tax - 15% if the car leaves the country)? Is the new owner also a forum member?

Buyer is a hairstylist from Dragør on Amager, so you might see the car soon(DT 70 138 is the numberplate). When the car is over 35 years there is no refund on registration, so thats why I did not put it on Ebay.de. But at the price I got for it I believe that any german would have been happy to buy it!
I did encourage him to become a forummember and the car has the sticker in the window...

A male hairstylist i Dragør? I'll probably see it then as my son and I sometimes drive there for ice cream - I actually did a film for Audi on the nice coast road out there with LeMans-winner Tom Christensen, but we were going way too fast to stop for ice cream...
