I have a '65 SL. Always been an exceptional car and very well kept. I recently blew a rod. The local Mercedes dealer took a look and it does need a "new" engine. I usually take this car to the dealer as I trust them, also knowing that it is a litle more expensive. Anyway, a "new" motor, or to have this one re-built with them was an estimated $11,000.
I don't see myself putting a new motor in for a while and thogut I would ask here:
What would be a reasonable price to sell this car? I have lots of pirctures. I am the 3rd owner and have records dating back to 1970.
Any help?
Thanks in advance.

Steve,
Don't Panic!
Whilst you could, no doubt, pay $11K for a new engine, there's absolutely no need so to do! There are lots of other options that will cost you far, far less, such as getting a donor engine from a contemporary sedan. That said, if you just want to sell the car, you'll need to provide a lot more info and post pics. Lots of pics.
May be worth investigating the replacement engine a bit more first though.
Good luck.

Thanks James,
It actually looks just like the picture in your profile.
I will get some pictures up and more info.
I am thinking of selling, as there is another "toy" I have in mind.
I have had this car for about 11 years.

Have you checked with Metric Motors in Canoga Park? Website is http://www.mercedesengines.net/

I have not checked that site out, but I will book mark it. I have just put the car up on Craigslist for San Francisco and palo Alto. So if anyone wants to undertake a project...
